Rocking and Rolling in Grand Haven

We were weathered in at the Grand Haven Municipal Marina from Friday, August 23 to Wednesday, August 28. The marina is really just some docks on the Grand River. It’s poorly designed and completely exposed to the swell coming up the channel. Because it was so windy and wavy out on the Big Lake, the channel was very choppy every day. Here’s a little video to show you our life for those 5 days.

Fortunately, Maria’s sister Chrissy and brother in law Chad live in Grand Haven. They came to see us a couple times and generously had us to their house for a wonderful home cooked dinner (with lots of vegetables!!!). Maria’s parents also visited. A review of Oddsides Brewery from their visit is soon to come.

Grand Haven is a very nice town with plenty to do and everything a cruiser could need, but boy was that a long 5 days!

You know what they say; if the boat’s rocking, don’t come knocking. It looks like you had the boat well secured; thank God it wasn’t wet and cold.
We would have waited for better weather also.
